My Slowest and Best 5k Ever

I did a 5k a few days ago. A local elementary school was doing the race as a fundraiser. Carrie and I have two God-children who were both running in the race and asked Uncle Dale and Aunt Carrie to do it with them. Hundreds of people crowded together at the starting line, nearly all of them wearing the blue t-shirts given to each participant. Emma (7) and Aieden (6) were ready to run. Carrie and Heather (the kids’ mom) planned to run/walk together. Heather then mentioned that, in last year’s race,… Read More
In a world of ‘lost boys’ where is Peter Pan?

And Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has this [demonic bondage and terror] been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood.”Mark 9:21 ESV Robin Williams once played an aged Peter Pan in the movie Hook. When one of the lost boys came face to face with this once hero and friend, he pulled back the wrinkled skin on Pan’s face and said “Oh, there you are, Peter!” The ever-young Pan was hidden deep inside an old man. Your Diligence Will Be Rewarded
Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. Standing back and looking at the bright, shiny car you just washed and waxed, seeing the straight lines and perfectly trimmed grass of your lawn after a day of mowing, smelling the clean scent of your home after hours of chores –… Read More
A Generation Set Free
“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.” (Mark 9:37 ESV) Jesus loves kids. He held them, blessed them, healed them, and honored them throughout the entirety of His ministry on earth. In Mark 9 we read of the disciples who are arguing among themselves over who is the greatest. Jesus responds by bringing a child over and talking about the humility and innocence of a child that brings great reward. It is my opinion that ministry to… Read More
A Father’s Influence – a tribute to my dad
My parents got married while they were both in college. Shortly thereafter they discovered they were expecting a child. My dad was playing intramural football when he got the word that my mom was in labor. They got to the hospital, where my mom was taken care of and my dad was given a gown, hair net, and gloves in order to be allowed in the birthing room. Coming out gowned, netted, and gloved into the waiting room to let his family and friends know that the time had come, my dad… Read More
